Completes three-race weekend for at Miller Motorsports Park

Chester, CT, Sept. 17

Eric Curran closed out his 2010 professional series-racing season with a triple-header at Miller Motorsports Park west of Salt Lake City, UT.

Eric CurranRacing in two GRAND-AM series features and a NASCAR K&N Pro Series race over a two-day span, kept the action coming all weekend long for Curran. He came within :00.65 seconds of scoring his first NASCAR win, qualified on the pole for the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series GT class, led the opening stint, and finished 9th in the Continental race.

After competing in 231.648 miles of racing in two Grand Am races on Saturday, Eric jumped in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race on Sunday. He was excited to jump into the #25 ModSpace Motorsports/Guardian Angel Motorsports Toyota. This car is owned by Bill McAnally and BMR Racing.

The NASCAR West series raced on the same version of the Miller Motorsports Park circuit that the Grand-Am cars had used the previous day.

"I was quick in practice but had a motor problem. The Whelen team rushed over to help put a motor in the ModSpace/Guardian Angel Motorsports Camry in just over an hour to get us on the grid for qualifying," Curran said.

Eric Curran"NASCAR made me start at the back of the field because of the motor change but I still had to qualify for the show. Our time was fast enough so we weren't one of the five teams sent home. It would have been nice to start up front in the race but we had no choice."

Despite starting at the back, Eric was halfway through the field after five laps and in eighth place on lap 11. He pitted two laps later, due to a right rear tire going flat, and was back to a dismal 25th place by lap 18.

The final 10 laps were contested under green flag conditions. Curran roared through the field, catching race leader Greg Pursley on lap 34, and took the checkered flag only :00.65 seconds behind Pursley. "My ModSpace/Guardian Angel Motorsports Toyota started pushing with two laps to go, I tried hard to catch Greg but after taking the checker flag the right front tire was completely flat. I guess I can't complain about starting last, getting two flat tires, and finishing second. It would have been fun to really go for the win with four tires full of air!!"

Curran's triple feature weekend closed out with a total of 341 laps of the 3.048-mile road course, or 1039 high-speed miles.

Eric Curran"All three of these races this weekend were very special, and for different reasons," Curran said. "It was my first time in the #25 ModSpace Toyota and my first NASCAR race of the year. Mike McCalmont's CKS Camaro program reunited me with the all the people from the Cobalt days. And most importantly I  scored the pole for the Whelen program and we are continuing to grow and show progression as a team.

"I'd also like to thank Charles and his crew at ModSpace/Guardian Angel Motorsports for coming on board with us this weekend so we could take on the NASCAR race and earn them some additional exposure with our battle from the back to finish in second place."
