Eric Curran: Racing Bio
Birthday: June 8 Home: Easthampton, Mass. Eric is an owner of Performance Motoring, a Volvo sales and service business in Hadley, Mass., and races professionally for Whelen Motorsports and Marsh Racing. He enjoys driving racecars, go karts, and coaching drivers. On the street he drives a 2008 BMW M3 coupe and a Volvo S60R Eric’s favorite track is Lime Rock Park, where he has raced over 30 times. Eric began racing since 1994, starting in SCCA Club racing with Improved Touring cars, SCCA Solo events, and ice racing. Eric won 21 races and 4 championships in the ITB SCCA series. After Eric won the SCCA Runoffs National Championship in 1999’s American Sedan class, he turned professional the next year and scored his first pro win not long after. Eric has raced in seven professional series - NASCAR Camping World Series, American Le Mans Series, Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge, Motorola Cup, SCCA World Challenge GT and Touring, SCCA Trans-Am Championship, SCCA Mazda MX5 Playboy, plus National Auto Sports Assn. Through 148 professional races at the end of the 2008 season, Eric has qualified on the pole 20 times, won 24 races, finished in the top three 49 times, and 101 times in the top 10. Eric has raced cars owned by Whelen Motorsports, Bill Fenton Motorsports, Georgian Bay Motorsports, Chili Pepper Racing, Farnbacher-Loles, Banner Racing, LG Motorsports, RealTime Racing, ACS Express, and Motorsports Enterprises Racing. He has raced on 21 permanent tracks in the U.S., six American street circuits, six permanent and temporary tracks in Canada, and one airport circuit in Puerto Rico.
