Curran made it look almost easy PDF Print E-mail
Being the fastest gun in town doesn’t guarantee winning championships, and such was the case in World Challenge GT as the fastest package wasn’t a Cadillac or a Porsche, but Eric Curran and his mighty Whelen Corvette C6 – Curran made it look almost easy winning at Sebring, Long Beach, Mid Ohio, and Mosport.

Teddy Marsh and Sonny Whelen had an extra C6 Corvette, and in a last-minute deal a week before Sebring, Curran was brought in to stand the GT community on its ears. In many ways, Sebring was a microcosm of the entire season for the Whelen team as both Curran and Whelen showed amazing speed early, but after an oil filter seal blew apart in practice turning the No.30 Whelen Corvette into a fireball, Curran’s season looked like burnt toast before it began.

Curran and Corvette rose from the ashes of despair to crush the GT field during a soggy race as Sebring represented  something that the GT competition would see all to much of – No.30 Corvette would win virtually every time it finished.
