Eric Curran: Racing Bio
Birthday: June 8 Current City: Holyoke, Mass. Eric races professionally in both the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series, and the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.
In the Rolex series GT category, Eric drives the #31 Chevrolet Corvette C6 for Whelen Engineering/Marsh Racing with Boris Said as his co-driver.
On the same weekends, Eric also drives for the Canadian-based CKS Autosport team in the Continental Tire series, sharing the #01 Chevrolet Camaro GS.R in the Grand Sports class with Lawson Aschenbach. Eric also enjoys testing and developing a variety of race cars, racing go-karts, and coaching all levels of drivers.
His favorite track is Lime Rock Park in CT, close to where he grew up in New England and started his road racing career.
Eric began racing since 1994, starting in SCCA Club racing with Improved Touring cars, SCCA Solo events, and ice racing. Eric won 21 races and 4 championships in the ITB SCCA series in the first four years of competition. Eric then won the 1999 SCCA National Championship Runoffs in the American Sedan class and was awarded Rookie of the year.
He turned professional in 2000 and finished 3rd in the Rolex 24 At Daytona in his first Daytona race. He also started racing in SCCA World Challenge and Trans-Am that year.
Eric has raced in over 23 racing series– GRAND-AM ROLEX Sports Car Series, GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge and its forerunners in the Koni Grand Sports and Street Tuner classes, American Le Mans Series, NASCAR K&N, NASCAR Camping World, NASCAR Modified Series, SCCA World Challenge GT and Touring car, SCCA Trans-Am, SCCA Playboy Mazda MX-5, SCCA Club Racing AS, SRF, SM, ITE, ITS, ITA, ITB, and ITC classes, Motorola Cup GS1 & GS2, NASA, American GT, Viper Racing League and NARRA.
In his professional career between 2000 and the end of the 2011 seasons, Eric has qualified on the pole 20 times, won 24 races, finished on the podium 64 times, and 132 times in the top 10.
Eric has driven for Whelen Motorsports, Marsh Racing, Stevenson Motorsports, CKS Autosport, Turner Motorsports, Farnbacher-Loles, Banner Racing (LRPG), LG Motorsports, Fall Line Motorsports, Georgian Bay Motorsports, Compass 360, RealTime Racing, Tri-point Engineering, Mcanally Racing, ACS Express, Bill Fenton Motorsports, BlackDog Motorsports, Hale Motorsports, Chili Pepper Racing and MER.
